The existing methods of testing for skin diseases include using a phase-contrast microscope to examine specimens harvested through a scratch test and culturing of a similarly harvested specimen in order to identify the type of microbe. These methods have a disadvantage in that specimen collection relies on intuition and experience, as a consequence of which an abnormal specimen may not successfully be collected. Moreover, it often takes time to obtain the results of culture tests. The proposed business could support specimen collection based on intuition and experience by using fluorescence to identify abnormal areas simply by shining a light on the skin surface.
