The outdoor clothing industry is struggling to replace harmful chemicals in its products. dimpora offers high-performing, PFC-free, waterproof and breathable membranes based on sustainable materials.

Advantages of our technology:
The outdoor clothing industry is struggling to replace harmful chemicals in their products. Those chemicals, mainly fluorinated chemicals (also called PFCs), are found to be highly resistant to degradation and cause harm to the environment and human health. Unfortunately, they are commonly used in membranes for waterproof and breathable clothing. PFCs can slowly diffuse out from the garments into nature and can nowadays be found in the most remote places like the pristine mountain lakes in the Alps or even in the fatty tissue of Polar bears.

Dimpora is a startup founded in 2019 that empowers outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy nature without leaving a trace. With this mission in mind, the company is offering high performing waterproof and breathable membranes based on fluorine-free materials. The performance of dimpora products match up and in some cases even exceeds the competitors’ when it comes to waterproofing and breathability. Additionaly, dimpora membranes are extremely versatile, elastic and their performance as well as shape (3D) can be easily customized. This clearly differentiates dimpora from its competitors.

Dimpora’s membranes support the transition from old chemical processes to better social, economic and ecological manufacturing in the clothing industry. Therefore, the company represents the new generation of functional membranes. Dimpora is constantly working on developing innovative membrane solutions with a strong focus on sustainability, recyclability and degradability.

Our business model:
We operate in a B2B business model and generate revenue through direct sales of membranes and laminates in 2L or 3L constructions (per meter) to brands and converters. With this combined approach we will be able to define high end, customer specific products directly with the customer and at the same time also distribute our membrane in more off the shelf productions in the converters sales channel. In addition, we are an ingredient brand and therefore, push for B2C communication for our products.

Traditionally, membrane producers push their products onto the market and tend to stop innovating. We aim for a "push and pull" relationship. The customer should buy our already developed products but we are very open to joint development projects with a "technology pull" to provide customized solutions to interested customers, thus keeping the membrane up to the current sustainable advances in the industry. The past and current projects/pilots with brands and other customers clearly show that there is a need for a knowledgeable partner with a strong scientific background and membrane provider throughout the industry, which we are able to offer.

Our aim for business:

For manufacturing purposes, we would like to meet with the R&D, technical, and Innovation departments to discuss the feasibility of producing our membranes in their facilities. Also considering the knowledge that the Japanese industry has in textile manufacturing technics, it is a unique opportunity to improve our processes too. For sales purposes, we would like to meet with sales representatives and/or brands focused on selling outdoor and sports garments. For brands, we would like to meet with the innovation & sustainable departments and the responsible collection buyers to show them our products, so they can introduce them to their supply chain.
